Tricks of the Trade

We all would love to look like a professional has done our make up in the morning, but sadly we don’t. Here are a few ways shared by those wonderful professionals to get that look! Take it from the Pro’s – they know what they are talking about!

Make that concealer count! Kaylin Johnson, eco-friendly makeup artist and blogger lets us know it’s easy “Brighten your look instantly by dabbing some corrective concealer on the darkest portion of under-eye circles. Pat a flesh-toned shade over it and set with powder. Make sure to apply any eye cream and moisturizers well before application to avoid creasing.”

If you aren’t used to applying liquid eyeliner, lining those eyes might be a little bit tricky. We all would like to use it because it stays longer and smudges less than a normal pencil liner. Ysolt Usigan, beauty and style contributor at Huffington Post, shares her trick of the trade; “What I do is, I line my eyes first with a pencil liner because it’s easier to make that straight line with it. Then I go back on the line with the liquid liner. It’s kind of like coloring! The result? Your eye liner will stay on, smudge-free, and well-lined.”

If you are looking to get those eyes defined without looking too heavy, try using black to line your upper lashes and a lighter brown to line your bottom. “This is one of my biggest makeup artist tricks for beautiful, soft eyes!” says Mally Roncal who is a professional makeup artist.

We all want gorgeous lashes that we see on the big screen, here is their secret…warm your eye lash curler before you use it! Alexis Wolfer, editor-in-chief of TheBeautyBean.com shares that If you blast your curler with your hair dryer or run it under some warm water you will be able to tell a difference in the curl of your lashes as well as how long they stay that way!

To make your eyes look more open take a white eyeliner pencil and line your water line on your bottom lash line! Candice Sabatini, editorial director of BeautyNewsNYC.com fills us in on the fact that this is how the ladies of the 30’s and 40’s did their makeup to make their eyes pop. She also tells us that if you have close set eyes this will make them seem wider apart. Her words of wisdom “Make sure it’s subtle” don’t overdo it ladies!

One of my personal favorites, always carry Chap-stick with you! During the summer your lips may tend to dry out more since you tend to be in the sun for longer amounts of time! I just recently purchased Motives Vitamin E Lip Treatment, it is absolutely wonderful and I apply it all the time!  Tip: Before you apply any lip balm or chap-stick buff your lips.
