Trend Report: Body Shimmer

Since the popularity of body glitter in the 1990s, body shimmer has had a bad rap. But it’s hard to deny the goddess-like look of luminescent skin, like that of Nicole Richie. Here’s how you can bring body shimmer back while keeping it light and classy.

Shower and exfoliate
Take a shower and use a gentle exfoliating loofah to ensure you have a nice, even texture to your skin so that the shimmer applies evenly.

Dry completely and apply moisturizer
Make sure you are completely dry and your moisturizer has had a chance to penetrate your skin before applying the shimmer.

Apply shimmer accentuate your face
Using a large powder brush or kabuki brush, apply loose shimmer powder to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and the top arches of your eyebrows (anywhere the sun would naturally kiss).

Get dressed
This prevents the shimmer from rubbing off when putting on your clothes. Then, you will be able to clearly see the areas that are visible and require accentuating.

Apply body shimmer
Using the same large powder or kabuki brush, lightly apply the body shimmer to the exposed areas of your body where you would like to draw attention. Shoulders, collarbone and cleavage are great options – show off your best features!

Bonus tip: If you apply too much shimmer to one area of your body, simply use tape to remove the excess!

So what do you think: Body Shimmer – ready to glow or no go?
