Brown Eyes:
These are the easiest and most versatile to work with. Brown eyes look great with many shades. However, to really make your eyes pop try Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in some cool blue pigments such as Lust Dust or Crystal Blue. Another great option for brown eyes is Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in Pacific Sea, which is a cool green shade that helps illuminate brown eyes.

Blue Eyes:
Try a warm copper or a rich brown eye shadow. These shades are such a contrast to the blue eye that they draw attention away from the surrounding eye area and bring focus back to the eye color. Great shades to try are Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in Hot Chocolate, In the Buff, or Cinnamon Spice.

Green Eyes:
Contrast those stunning greens with any one of Motives beautiful purple eye shadows such as Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in Aphrodite, Fantasy or Breaking Dawn. Also, for green eyes use a deep purple/plum eyeliner such as Motives Gel Eyeliner in Amethyst to give your eyes that extra glow.

Then the Holiday season starts. Everyone seems to be nicer during this time of the year. Being in the beauty business, I cannot help but zero in on a product that fits perfectly with the Holiday season – Red Lips!

Red lips are not only a classic look, but they also a very sexy look. It gives you a pop of color that can enhance your over-all look. However, it takes a little bit of know-how to get just about the right “Red Lips” look!

• Line the inside of your lips. To avoid the color from bleeding, use Motives Lip Crayon ( Retro Red, Passion, Cinnabar and Bordeaux are great red lip crayon colors)
• Pick the right color. If your tone is pink, pick Plum shades. If you have a yellow tone, go for Warmer Reds
• Go light on the eye shadow and blush when you wear a bold red color.
• Blend1 Blend! Blend! Sometimes to create the perfect red color, you may need to mix two or three red colors. So, if you have a red lipstick in your drawer that you seldom use for whatever reason – too bold, too dark, try mixing it with another color or two until you get the desired color and look.

Angel Eyeliner can be worn above your liner or as the liner as well as used in the inside of the eye to highlight.  White liner can be used to tight-line (inside the wet line of your inner eye) to hide redness or just to extend the white of the eye. There are definitely some days when we all need to look like we got a good night’s sleep!

Small lips:

If your lips are small focus on light colors to add space and volume to lips. Wear a touch of light or sheer gloss, on your center bottom lip to add volume.

Medium lips:

If your lips are medium size, you can wear any color depending on your desired look. Medium lips are perfect for reds and bright pinks to express your voice!

Full lips:

If your lips are full, use dark matte or cream colors to minimize the size and volume. Stay way from glosses, these tend to draw attention where you are trying to minimize.

Here are steps to the perfect lip once you have chosen the perfect shade.

• Exfoliate with Motives Lip Pumice to slough off dead cells and prepare lips for the perfect colors.
• Apply Motives INVISI-LINE on and around lips for a soft primer. This helps minimize fine lines around the lips that are caused from smoking, drinking from a straw or just simply loosing collagen.
• Brush lightly over lip with a powder brush to seal the hydrating benefits of pumice and Invisi-line.
• Line lips with Motives Lip Crayons. Choose a color close to your natural lip color unless you are using intense bright colors or minimizing the size of your lip. For bright lip sticks use bright pencils, for minimizing lips use dark pencils.
• Apply your desired Motives Rich Formula Lipstick.
• Apply a gloss at the bottom center of your lip.

After lunch it seems that lips are never quite as fresh looking as they were at the beginning of the day.  Just re-apply Motives INVISI-LINE and powder lightly again and proceed with your liner and lipstick. Your lips will last the rest of the day and you will feel fresh.

One of the best things you can do for acne prone skin is proper exfoliation and hydration.  You want to gently exfoliate with something that does not harm the skin. Fixx Microdermabrasion is an excellent choice. Another favorite exfoliation ingredient is glycolic acid. It works perfectly to remove surface dead skin cells without drying like other common acne fighting ingredients.

One common mistake made by most people with oily skin and most likely also acne prone skin, is avoiding moisturizers. The skin’s lack of moisture exacerbates the oil production in order to compensate for the lack of water. Therefore, using a moisturizer is critical for oily skin.

A nice oil-free moisturizer with ingredients like sodium PCA, ceramides, and sodium hylauronate are great moisture-binding ingredients you want to look for in your moisturizer. And, the final step is sun protection to prevent worsening of scars. Besides an oil-free sunscreen, a mineral based face powder with SPF like a Customized Mineral Powder is a fantastic addition to your skincare regimen. It’s a great way to reapply natural sun block without destroying your makeup.

Makeup is used to create illusions and to accentuate the wearer’s natural beauty. With that being said I want to discuss one of the most versatile cosmetic products to ever have been made… my love for Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eye Shadows.

Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eye Shadows are loose mineral eye shadows that provide an intense color and shimmer for all skin tones. The great thing about Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eye Shadows are primarily intended to be used on the eyes as an eye shadow, but they can also be used throughout the face and parts of the body, depending on your color selection of course.

If you are looking for a wash of shimmery color on the eye the Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eye Shadow can be used by applying with a dry eye shadow brush and lightly tapping off any excess on the brush before application. This will give you a pop of color to the eye and can be used for a more natural to dramatic look.

Now, if you are like me and love dramatic eyes you can also use the Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eye Shadows wet. By lightly dampening a concealer brush or other synthetic bristle brush and then dipping the brush into the loose mineral pigments. This will help intensify the color of the eye shadow being used and will help the loose minerals adhere better to the skin. This in turn will give an intense color and shimmer payoff on to the eyes.

Since Motives Paint Pot Mineral Eye Shadows are loose mineral pigments they can be worn as eyeliner (by dampening the brush as with the step before, but using an angle liner brush), they can also be used on top of lipstick or mixed in with lip shines to give a shimmery effect. They can be mixed in or on top of your favorite Motives Nail Lacquer, or gently brushed on areas of the body that you would like to give a shimmery or luminous effect to.
