Don’t have the time or the money to head to the spa for a fancy hair treatment? This DIY hair oil smells amazing and feels luxurious. Best of all, it doesn’t eat up your money and you can do it from the comfort of your own home!
You’ll need only a few items to make your hair oil: a coffee filter, coconut oil, rose water, and fresh flower petals of any variety. As an added bonus, keep the flowers you don’t use and make a pretty arrangement for yourself!
The night before you want to use your hair oil you’ll need to boil a half cup of coconut oil. Add 2 tbsp rose water and ½ cup petals to the pot. Return to boil and cook for 3 minutes before removing from heat. Allow the mixture to steep overnight.
Strain the oil through a coffee filter. It’s now ready to use! For the treatment, use around 5 tbsp. Work oil into your hair, down to your scalp. Wrap your head in a towel, sit back, and relax for half an hour! When you’re ready, gently shampoo your hair as usual. It will feel smooth and smell wonderful.
Have you tried to make your own hair oil? What ingredients did you use? Tell us below!

Thanks for sharing! I actually prefer argan oil instead of coconut oil because it has more benefits and it’s super light on my hair, not greasy. I use Pro Naturals Moroccan Argan Oil, do you think it could work with flowers?
Vivien, I think it would be great to experiment using Argan oil for this recipe. Let us know what you find!
