Care for Your Pores: Common Questions

Large pores are irritating and no fun to conceal. What causes these to pop up and how can you prevent them? Check out a few of the most commonly asked questions concerning large pores.

What are pores?
Skin pores are a port in the skin from which hair grows and where oil is released to help keep your face hydrated.

Who gets larger pores?
People with dry skin tend to have much smaller pores than someone with oily skin. The oil in your skin tends to clog up pores and stretch them out.

What can I do to minimize larger pores?

  1. Wash your face daily. Remember to wash your face before bed and remove all makeup from that day. If you keep makeup for long periods of time it will eventually seep into the skin and cause your pores to become clogged.
  2. Don’t squeeze your pores! Squeezing can cause trauma to the surrounding tissue and you will end up with a larger red mark than the pore you started out with.
  3. Choose makeup that is light-weight or made from an oil-free formula. You can also choose to use a face primer before makeup application. A primer will soak into all of your fine lines and pores to create a smooth barrier.

Keep a routine going – always remember to remove makeup after your daily wear. Use a good facial cleanser and moisturizer to cleanse and hydrate your skin. Oil free is the way to go when trying to prevent, control, and maintain healthy oil free skin. Timeless Prescription® 3-Step Acne Care System is a perfect set to gently exfoliate dead skin, remove excess oil build-up, and eliminate impurities on the skin.

  1. Toners really reduce enlarged pores immensely.. I recommend any Skin Toner.. especially with rose water or green tea. It reduces pores and closes up your skin after cleansing.. it also removes any excess makeup and oil before moisturising.. it acts as a disinfectant and stops skin from being infected.
